Raven’s CEO, Ian Kerr, gives us a round-up of the year and 2021 vision for Raven. 

2020 has been a very challenging year for the event industry. The people involved in the delivery of events, staging and friends and family of those involved, their safety is of course first priority and all of the outcomes of COVID-19.

Events all over the world have either been cancelled or had to massively adapt their processes in order to ensure safe events for all involved. As the current distribution of the vaccine now taking place, this will hopefully lead to a safer event environment in 2021. 

Software developments 

For Raven, it’s been a very interesting year. We have continued to develop at pace and we spent the time during lockdown to really work very hard in creating some new innovative features within our software and looking ahead to 2021 where we will be releasing our mobile app, specifically designed for operations. 

This is going to facilitate a greater flow of information, shared situational awareness and flexibility within our software to use across the multiple environments we have been working within. 

The other exciting piece of technology we have been working hard on is a very sophisticated mapping solution for our clients. We have really listened to what our clients want and developed that out. Taking into account the many different constructions of venues and events that we service and facilitating that through a mobile mapping solution which is going to add a lot of value to continued operations. 

What we have also found is that people have been really open to working on how to digitise their processes and procedures. They can incorporate procedures such as SG02 guidance and all of the other information that has been directed towards the industries to ensure that they can comply with as many different areas as is necessary to allow themselves to re-open and invite spectators and fans back into these environments. 

In 2021, I think we will see a gradual return of spectators and fans coming into our arenas, events and stadiums. However, this is a process that has to be very carefully managed. Everything from the transport network to the Zone EX to getting into the grounds safely, it’s going to become even more important to provide integrated shared awareness around the many factors involved while still adhering to processes and procedures that will remain in place likely for quite some time in 2021.

With that in mind, Raven has been speaking to complementary technologies and are working with a group of select partners to look for the best solutions to provide a fully integrated approach to event staging and delivery.

We have also been lucky throughout this year to add to our team which has been fantastic. It’s added even more speed and velocity to our development process. We are looking forward to moving into 2021 and adding even more members to our team with some exciting developments in the US in particular. 

2021 Events 

Raven have already got some amazing events and clients for 2021 and beyond. We are extremely excited to be working with the likes of UEFA on the Euro 2020, working with the European Tour on the many global golf events that are staged and many other clients within the industry to really help provide an integrated approach to event delivery.

We will continue to innovate, listen to the market and look at the geopolitical environment and see what we need to do to further enhance our technologies to enable event delivery through our technology and ensure that we are at the forefront of the industry.
